Breakthrough Deck

The Breakthrough Juice skateboards are the result of a creative partnership between Shawn Beeks, founder or Slapstik Skateboard Art, and the young participants of the Breakthrough T1D art activities. Over the course of 4 months group calls and drawing sessions were attended by all to discuss what living with type one diabetes looks like. Colors, medical devices, meter readings and juice boxes became the iconography of glucose. Over a dozen drawings made by the participants were streamlined into one image for a very limited production of skateboards. To commemorate the work of all the artists involved, silver and gold foil skateboards were specially pressed and printed for the Breakthrough T1D's 2026 Gala event, each is signed by the lead artist Shawn Beeks.
